Eager to try out typo? Convert today! April 30th

Following suit with the initial Movable Type 3.x converter for the typo weblogging engine all current users of WordPress and TextPattern may now convert easily as well.

Well, hopefully. As I never had either of those running on any of my servers my testing was limited to converting database dumps graciously donated by Justin and Hendrik. At first glance, everything looks okay though.

If your mileage does vary, please don’t hesitate to ping me in #typo-dev on Freenode or just submit a ticket over at typo’s trac site.

How am I supposed to use the textpattern.rb script? I have an ssh tunnel to my mysql database for textpattern on my Mac, and I have typo 2.0.6 downloaded. What is the next step?

Jonathan, basically you have to create the typo databases (`typo` or`typo_dev` if you’re just testing) on the same MySQL server that holds your textpattern tables.

Assuming you have Rails installed, the second step is to run the textpattern.rb script passing it the name of the textpattern database like so:
1. ./textpattern.rb —db=textpattern
This should convert all posts, comments and trackbacks from your textpattern blog into your new typo blog.
